Quidditch is a challenging new sport inspired by J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. It is a combination of Basketball, Rugby, Dodgeball, and Tag - mostly one handed, all while running on a broom. Quidditch is suited to a wide range of athletic abilities as there are several different positions with varying roles.
What does SAQA do?
The South Australian Quidditch Association (SAQA) endeavours to promote, facilitate, and play Quidditch. We are the only QAI (Quidditch Australia Incorporated) certified SA quidditch governing body. Association with the QAI and the IQA (International Quidditch Association) provides us with a wide range of benefits that extend to member teams including insurance and support for events, as well as officially ranked matches and national tournaments.
We strive to embody the IQA's rules and the "three C's": Competition, Community, and Creativity. We believe quidditch is for all ages and abilities; there is a position for everyone. We are here to make sure quidditch in SA is a safe, fun, and challenging activity. We are excited to add to the South Australian quidditch community whether it is locally, the wider Adelaide region or country areas.
We will provide support for budding teams and adequate challenge for established teams. We strive to create a tight-knit, friendly community we can be proud of.
